| Barn Swallows nest
almost exclusively on manmade structures: on
bridges, wharves, and buildings; in mine shafts
and culverts. Originally, Barn Swallows built
their nests on cliff faces and in caves and rock
crevices, but now such nest sites are rare. This
simple nesting perch may be placed under the
eaves, inside a garage or barn, or on the side of
a building. It offers protection from elements
and requires no maintenance. |
